Day 23: Best song that reflects Miki Shinichiro

Black Angel song by Kudou Youji (Weiß Kreuz) would be the best song to reflect the true Miki-sama.

I recently read somewhere online regarding his past suffering of depression. Poor guy, he seems to have overcome it over these past few years. I’m not sure if you notice, bu this is evident during live seiyuu events. You can sense his lack of enthusiasm and provided minimum input when required to comment from old clips. It’s completely different now, he tends to adapt to the atmosphere of the stage and can joke or fool around more with the cast members. I am truly happy for him, I’m sure his family is there to support him as well. He has a really adorable son btw, I had see a picture of him via miki-ha.com, but cannot locate it now.

I also have been told that he does not think highly of himself?! Someone needs to drag him to the side and let him know how much we love him. There are so many other seiyuu that admire and respect him; you can see this at live event when they call him, aniki. I find this truly cute ne! Maybe Seki Tomokazu can straighten him out, he is one of his close buddies in the industry and sure is one hilarious guy, even if he is trying not to be. No matter what he thinks of himself, Miki-sama is certainly one unique and awesome individual!

I’m sure that those that follow my blog know that my ultimate favorite solo of Miki-sama’s is Gyakufuu no Toki ni Hitori. You can find my previous post regarding the song with Romaji and English lyrics here. Hmm…for my second most favorite, I would have to go with One Night Cruising, which is the most listened to along side with my first choice. This is the ending theme to the Haru wo Daiteita OVA, sang by Katou Youji who voiced by my beloved.

Honestly, this did not left an impression after my first viewing of the OVA like most. It was not until I read all 14 volumes of the manga that I become obsessed with all Haru wo Daiteita related things. I found the song to be a delight with its amazing beats which allowed Miki-sama’s talented vocals to shine lovely.

I found myself humming happily to it last night, its upbeat melody provided such a positive and uplifting atmosphere. The composition consist of light acoustics along with the meaningful lyrics, it certainly makes this a cute and fluffy song.

The anime itself was delightful to watch, had finished it within two days. The series revolves around a six year-old child taken by a thirty year-old bachelor due to complicated circumstances. As the single parenthood story progressed, it illustrated their daily interactions, how their relationship develops and coping with complex issues. It’s truly a heartwarming little tale and highly recommended to any Josei and/or slice-of-life fans

So here is my favorite of the week (thinking of posting something like this every week now, we’ll see ):

RoST (紳士的好色三人組) is a seiyuu group consist of Miki Shinichiro, Ishikawa Hideo, and Kasahara Rumi. I am not positive of the reasons to why the group was born, might have been for a series or something else (Do drop me a note if you have any ideas, I would love to know. ) However, for the short life span of the act, they had produced many wonderful and lovable songs.

I.D.E.A. ~Boku wa mainichi, yume o miru~ is the ending theme for Mega Man X6. The music is quite upbeat and catchy causing me to hum along with it as the piece was played continuously via my WMP. The vocals were executed beautifully by the three seyiuus, even the rap performed by Miki-sama. which I found delightful. Now, now you probably think I believe that all things touched by him are gold, which they are not, but this one certainly is! I absolutely adore his energetic performance. Also, the lyrics are quite inspirational — being able to dream every day and aiming to succeed them. Definitely wonderful, ne?!

The song is quite soothing and uplifting; it seem to heal my spirits after each session, especially after a long and tiring day at work. The vocals performed by CHEMISTRY are amazing, balancing wonderfully with the catchy rhythm and techno beat. Also, the lyrics are sweet, reminding you of the smaller things in life that can bring happiness and joy.

BTW, there is another version of the song which served as the ending theme for the same anime. Life goes on ~side D ~ provided more of an acoustic and sentimental tone. It’s nicely performed, but not as addictive as ~side K~.

Katou & Iwaki from Haru wo Daiteita

A few days ago, I accidentally stumbled across Arrival when doing a search on Miki Shinichiro (always looking for new things to be obsessed with ) and have been tickled pink ever since. XO This is an image/character song sang by Iwaki Kyousuke and Katou Youji which are portrayed by Morikawa Toshiyuki and Miki-sama, respectively. The track can be found via drama CD, Haru wo Daite Ita Special Premiere.

By the way, this yaoi series is written and illustrated by BL queen, Nitta Youka. Haru absolutely a fabulous read if you are interesting in this genre and/or looking for something new.

Arrival is a beautiful track with amazing and positive lyrics reflecting on aspects of life, which fits perfectly for Iwaki-san and Katou, may it be for their careers and relationship. As their lives intertwined with roller-coaster rides, the journey remains optimistic and fulfilling, as well as, leading toward something sweet and tender. There is a saying that for every storm, a rainbow awaits afterwards. Quite true in many cases, don’t you think?

The vocals performed by Morikawa-san and Miki-sama are astonishing, they harmonized beautifully giving the song an even more energetic atmosphere. With its upbeat tempo, smooth rhythm and rousing chorus, it is guaranteed that a second and three taste will be needed.

Seiyuu song or not, this is one darn awesome song! XO The combination of Morikawa-san and Miki-sama is absolutely divine, heavenly and magnificent, I have been fangirling for days now and don’t see my addiction coming to be end anytime soon. LOL

Something else I found interesting…the composer, Ueno Koji, is linked to JE?! He has written and arranged a few songs for Arashi (Natsu no Owari ni Omou Koto & Carnival Night part 2), KinKi Kids (It’s All Right), and V6 (Nemui Kyuujitsu). Kyaa~~~ most of which I adore, one more reason to love Arrival.

In additional to the wonderful gameplay, the opening theme is a beautiful one sang by Japanese singer-songwriter, Bonnie Pink. The composition is upbeat and energetic which harmonizes lovely with the singer’s smooth vocals. The lyrics are quite fitting to the adventure and the relationship between main characters, especially Yuri Lowell. There is also a Japanese counterpart which was written/translated afterwards, however, it is not as memorable or as strong as the original one.

I had spent a good portion of the weekend watching Macross Frontier and instantly fell in love with the anime. I absolutely adore its characters, complex storyline and the new concept of using music will save the world. Well, the aspect of fighting a war using music is not far-fetch as it seems if you are familiar with the franchisee, which has been in the making for 25+ years now. This is certainly something different and unique compared to other mecha series that I have seen, they would include Gundam 00, Escaflowne, Code Geass, etc. For my full list, go to MyAnimeList. I can say that every minute spent on Macross Frontier was worth it, this is one amazing and cool anime not to miss.

Of the two opening themes, LION become an immediate favorite, which the vocals are performed by the two main leading ladies, Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. Their singing voices are by May’n and Megumi Nakajima, respectively. The song is attention grabbing after the first taste, making you press the repeat button on your WMP or mp2 player. The composition is elegantly written with an introduction of electric guitars and continues throughout the song. There is strong sense of “I want to survive,” as noted in the lyrics, is presented and suits the theme of the anime perfectly, both on the battlefield of war and love. Along with the powerful and beautiful vocals of May’n and Nakajima-san, this one truly enjoyable song.
