Luffy is the first-ever manga character to be featured in a men’s fashion magazine. As a manga and anime fan, I found this truly awesome! :D He is going to the ambassador to the fashion world — Eat that Naruto LOL.

Monkey D. Luffy, the hero of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece pirate manga and anime franchise. will adorn the cover of the January issue of Shueisha’s Men’s Non-No fashion magazine when it ships on Thursday. This is the first time that a manga character has been on the cover in the magazine’s 24-year history. It is also the first time that Oda has drawn a cover image for a magazine that is not a manga magazine. Not coincidentally, Shueisha also publishes Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, the home of the One Piece manga.

Shinichi “Miter” Mita was the stylist responsible for Luffy’s look on Men’s Non-No’s cover, although Luffy did retain his trademark straw hat. The first eight pages of the magazine will be devoted to photographs of five models who resemble the characters Luffy, Nami, Robin, Zoro, and Sanji. The models donned clothes with the motifs of the sea and pirates for the magazine.

Two days after the Men’s Non-No magazine issue with the Luffy cover hits newsstands, One Piece Film Strong World will open in Japanese theaters. Besides the cover and the model photoshoot, the issue will carry interviews with Oda and Olympic gold-medal-winning swimmer (and One Piece Film Strong World guest voice actor) Kōsuke Kitajima. Unlike previous One Piece films, Oda has been personally overseeing the new film’s production.

Just watching this makes me super happy, only one word can describe it, EPIC! I love the formal wear on the mugiwara crew, somehow mafia and pirates have a nice ring to them. lol The preview of action looks awesome along with the bazookas, wondrous animals, and flying ships! Although, it’s going to be a damsel-in-distress situation, I have faith since Oda-sensei is responsible for the storyline. :D The additional treat would be the themesong which is sang by the popular Mr. Children; you can hear bits of it in the trailer.

Super psyched now, I have a feeling that will be the best One Piece movie thus far. The glimpses of design look awesome, it certainly has an intriguing plot and storyline. Oda-sensei, you never fail to amaze me! With such dedication and admiration, working on the movie, as well as, continuing your weekly releases of the manga.

Oda-sensei never fails to give us an excellent storyline and good laughs. Isn’t it wonderful that the animation team and him are working so close together, ensuring the the anime stays as close to the manga as possible. Another reason to love the anime. Anyone seen the movie 10 sneak preview on Youtube, just cannot wait to see it since Oda-sensei is not only working on the character design, but also the story. Unfortunately, it will not be releasing until the winter season. I’m in no hurry though, take as long as you need. :D

Haven’t heard anything about it being released in the US, I highly doubt it will occur since the US sales for Unlimited Adventure were not great. I did enjoyed Unlimited Adventure quite a bit and probably will import this one.

The games appears to be focusing on the Thriller Bark arc and includes the newest crew member, Brooke -- the jolly skeleton. The second episode will be released some time in 2009.


The cover looks great with Oda-sensei’s artwork, much better than the Unlimited Adventure one.

Now I need to pay a mortgage and loads of bills, definitely don’t want to do, do we? :P I have a rather small collection of the One Piece - Mugiwara Kaizoku-dan gang at the moment. However, I could not resist this time, Megahouse will be releasing chibi versions of three One Piece members in July. They are just sooo adorable, I need to pre-order them at once.
