It’s been revealed that Arashi’s Sakurai Sho will be NTV’s main caster for the upcoming London Olympics.
This will be Sakurai’s third time to serve as the main caster for the Olympics. His first time was Beijing in 2008, then Vancouver in 2010. Sakurai is scheduled to report live from London from the opening day, July 27th.
He expressed, “After experiencing my first ‘Olympics’ in Beijing, I got to deliver reports with my feelings of a lot of emotion and excitement. To be able to deliver the Olympics once again as a main caster, I feel very honored.“
Sakurai has been gathering data to prepare himself for the Olympics, but he’s especially interested in swimmer Kitajima Kosuke. “4 years ago, Kitagawa eyes were glistening, and he looked like he was full of competitiveness. Right now, I feel his commitment to analyze himself by overlooking ‘his bad period’. As someone who’s born in the same year (1982) as him, I have high hopes for him,” he said.
