Matsumoto Jun – Asian Pacific Arts articles

As always, I was browsing on the web for Arashi news and located two fabulous Asian Pacific Arts articles regarding Jun-kun. Even more astonishing that they are English interviews with him, sugoi! I’ve read numerous of translated article, finding his answers always inspiring and beautiful. Reading it in raw English was even better, he was certainly amazing. Though, I find it funny that the article called him The Matsujun, I’m use to seeing Matsumoto. I found that following rather cute and quite true:

He’s a normal person like you and me, but undeniably, with more perfect hair.

On a side note, I do hope that an Arashi will hold a concert in America one day. They are certainly more than welcome to stay as long as they like.

  1. Hi! Fiona.
I read those articles you mentioned. (Thank you for the information. I’m always interested in Jun’s reputation outside Japan. )
Yes, I also think Jun is just a normal person. However, he definitely have something attracts many people. I think Arashi already have exceeded in SMAP, and Matsujun’s performance is much better than Kimura Takuya(Kimutaku). Kimutaku can only perform one stereotype hero, but Jun can perform any kind of characters and can give us totally different impression depends on roles.

Regrettably Mago Mago Arashi and D no Arashi finished broadcast. As Arashi’s show, we have ‘Arashi no Shukudai-kun’, ‘VS Arashi’ and ‘Himitsu no Arashi chan’ now. All of them are enjoyable! I like to see their real faces during these shows.

  2. Heya coco! You’re quite welcome. It’s fascinating to find articles related to Jun-kun – always learn something new and to like him even more!

I agree with you that there’s something special about Jun-kun that attracts his fans besides his irresistible smile. Good actors must be able to portray a variety of roles and make them believable. In dramas, Jun-kun is 110% of the character – from attitude to gestures. He can also portray any emotion through his eyes. His glares are dangerous, I tell you! (I tend to fall in love with the character first rather than actor. If he is bland, there is no sense of persuading, is there?)

At first glance, I didn’t recognize the name, Kimura Takuya; did a search on Google and know now. I cannot say much about him though, only have seen Hero & SP, which I thought it was pretty good. However, he didn’t leave a huge impression on me. Now that was a totally different story with Jun-kun’s Sawada Shin (reminds self to re-watch Gokusen over the weekend)!

Definitely, Arashi have and will surpass their sempais, the group is quite young and still have sooo much potential. I believe their Asian tour provided a wonderful stepping stone for them to become more international. Everyone needs to be Arashified!

It’s quite unfortunate that a few of excellent Arashi’s variety shows have come to a closure, however, innovations are required to maintain freshness and to provide a new perspective. I look forward to see all of them.

    Have a great weekend!
