Today was a beautiful autumn morning, the sky was blue as ever, the wind was light, and the leaves were painted different colors; red, orange, brown, and yellow. Outside a lovely landscaped courtyard, a little blue jay sang a little tone and then flew to a small branch near the freshly painted house with the green door. On the second floor of the house, the door at the end of the hallway slightly opened; a little hand reached for the knock as he stepped out and closed the door quietly behind him.
Damian whispering to himself- “Shh, daddy and mommy are sleeping.” He tiptoed down the hall in his blue pajama with red and yellow cars designs, he stopped at the slightly a jarred door and peeked inside. The room was decorated in light lavender with white flowers as the border.
Damian walked near the bed where a girl no more than ten was sleeping, “Sis, wake up. Wake up!” He pulled the floral comforter down covering his entire body.
Damian- “It’s so dark.”
Mandy wake up as the light wind blew through the room making it a bit chilly for her.
Mandy yawning- “Hey, it’s getting cold. Oh, Damian, you are awake alright.” She got out of her bed, put on her bunny slippers and searched for her brother who was underneath the comfort.
Damian- “Hi, sis! I am hungry.”
Mandy- “I know so am I, but it’s Saturday, let’s let mommy and daddy sleep.”
Damian- “Who make my breakfast?”
Mandy- “Maybe Great-aunt can, she’s always awake by this hour.” Then, she took Damian by the right hand and led him down the stairs.
Nick had just woken up; he took his arm away from his wife and rubbed his eyes. He took a look at the green numbers that were on his alarm clock, “It’s 10:00 alright, I better get up.” Then, he turned back, looked at Jessica and gave her a peek on the forehead.
Nick smiles- “Beautiful as ever.” He gets up, walks over to the chair where his robe laid and placed it on. “It’s getting chilly.” He tip toes over to the bathroom and closes it gently.
The sudden tap of the door woke Jessica up; she looked at the green numbers and quickly got out of bed.
Jessica- “I cannot believe that I sleep in.” She hurried to the door where a little brown puppy was playing his blue chew toy that was in the shape of a bone. He ran to her as he saw her red slippers, he stand there and wagged his little tail.
Jessica kneeled down to him and rubbed his head- “Good morning, Tiger! I bet you are hungry, come on, I’ll get you something.”
Tiger licked Jessica on the cheek and stood back while she walked down the stairs.
Jessica yawning- “I have so much to do before heading down to the hospital.” A giggle in the kitchen startled her, “Who could that be?”
Damian climbed up on the stool- “I want that one and this one, Aunty.”
Mandy- “I’ll get the plates.” She walked over to the oak cabinet and opened it. “Hi, mommy!”
Damian hurried down and ran over to her, “Mommy, mommy!”
Jessica- “Good morning, sweetie. Why didn’t anyone wake me up?”
Aunt Lily- “It’s Saturday, you should be still in bed.”
Jessica yawning- “I still have so much work to do.”
Aunt Lily- “Nick is not going to like it.”
Nick walks in dressed in his blue polo shirt and black pants- “Aunty is right, you should be resting.” He went over and kissed her on forehead.
Mandy holding a plate of pancakes- “Daddy, look what I made.”
Nick smiled- “Great, my favorite. My little girl is going to be a chef.”
Damian- “Daddy, daddy. Pick me up.” He rushed over to his father and was off the floors in a second.
Nick- “You’re getting bigger by the minute, I’m not going to be able to hold you anymore.” Damian giggles and rushes back to his breakfast.
Jessica- “Honey, I….”
Nick- “No, I want you to get some rest, you stayed up until 3:00am last night. I don’t want my wife to collapse, now go to sleep.”
Jessica- “But….” Suddenly, the telephone rang and Aunt Lily picked it up.”
Aunt Lily- “Hi, Marco. Yes, they are here. What?”
Marco- “We still cannot find so we give you a call.”
Aunt Lily- “Okay, okay. No, we have not seem him when did he wake up?”
Marco- “I think last night when one of the doctors called in. Let me speak to Nick.”
She hands the phone to Nick, “What wrong?” She goes over to Jessica.
Nick-” Marco, what! How did this happen? Okay,okay, I’ll get there in ten minutes. Fine,okay.” He puts down the phone in shock.
Jessica worried- “When did my dad wake up and why is he missing?” Aunt Lily had informed her when Nick was on the phone.
Nick- “From what Marco said, the doctors went to check on him around midnight and found that he disappeared. We think he woke up and just walked out of the hospital without anyone noticing. I’m going down to the station, don’t worry, we will find him.”
Jessica grabbed his arm before he went into the living room- “I’m going too!”
Nick- “No!”
Jessica begs him- “He’s my dad, I want to help. Please, Nick.”
Nick- “Okay, let me get your coat.”
Suddenly the doorbell rings, Aunt Lily opens the green steel door, she is shock of this elderly man standing in front of her door. He was in his late fifties with strand of gray hair and wearing a long black coat.
Aunt Lily shocked- “Oh my, it’s you!”
