Miki Shinichiro Challenge Month: Day 5

Day 5: Three things you love about Miki Shinichiro

  • Intelligence – His way of speech and writing is different compared to other seyiuus in the industry. The entries on his blog are always unique and touching. Also, his answers to questions for live events, magazines, interviews, etc. tend to be on the sophisticated and refined side.

I recall from a Neoromance event where the seiyuus were asked on what their equation for love was. His answer was [Regret (後悔)+ Reflection (反省)]× ∞ = Love (恋愛). Complex response, ne?! His explanation was “恋愛するたんびに後悔して反省してそれの繰り返し.” Okay with my basic Japanese, I believe he said that love is to constantly reflect on your regrets. To look back to realize what you did wrong and to correct as you move forward in your relationship. XD Kakkoii ne?! I absolutely agree and so did the audience at the event. Hehe…you know what Seki Tomokazu said (he sat next to Miki-sama at the event, he was Chichiri in Fushigi Yuugi btw)…(Chest (胸)+ Behind (尻) = Love (恋愛). LOL I think he was trying to be funny, but still…. u.u

  • Dedication – As a voice actor for more than two decades, one can feel Miki-sama’s compassion and devotion through his works. I am certain that he had overcome many struggles and obstacles as he paved to where he is now — a highly respected and versatile seiyuu. His name is associated with numerous of productions, but no matter how small the role is, his commitment, patience, and endurance are illustrated. I am proud to be his fan, we are truly blessed to have such an amazing individual that had and still may portray unique characters.
  • Smile – Whenever he is amused, pleased or happy, his smile is such tender and gorgeous. His smirks are also adorable…awe, I could just stare it all day. XD

Miki Shinichiro Challenge Month: Day 4

Day 4: An anime series that you would like Miki Shinichiro to work on

Ah…if I could pick, I would love him to portray a character in One Piece. This anime/manga is no doubt my ultimate favorite and was a bit surprised that Miki-sama’s involvement has yet to be set. I’m not certain of his interest, but he has had roles in other mainstream shonen anime since his Naurto, Bleach, Gintama, etc.

The series already has 535 episodes and still a long ways from its conclusion (may it never ending ). It would be a dream collaboration with my two beloved!! I don’t have a character in mind yet, but he can be one hell of a villain and have an one-on-one combat with either Luffy or Sanji. No Zoro since he tends to be paired with swordsmen mostly of the time. Though, I love Miki-sama’s samurai portrayals, let’s go for something more creative and original here. Anyone with me on this?

Aiba Masaki to unite with a crime solving cat for new drama on NTV

As mentioned in the previous article, two networks announced new dramas starring a member from Arashi. The other network is NTV, who announced a new drama called ‘Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri‘, starring Aiba Masaki as the protagonist.

‘Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri’ is based on a popular ‘Mikeneko Holmes‘ mystery novel series by Akagawa Jiro. It tells the story of ‘Katayama Yoshitaro’ (Aiba) who became a detective in order to comply with the dying wish of his father who was a famous detective himself. Katayama is currently with MPD’s First Investigation Division, although he’s not cut out to be a detective at all. He not only can’t see blood, but he’s also terribly afraid of heights, women, and ghosts. One day, he meets a cat with three colors of fur (‘mikeneko’) who goes by the name of ‘Holmes’. This cat can understand humans and it also possesses brilliant reasoning skills. The two of them form a team and together they manage to solve various difficult cases.

This role is going to mark Aiba’s first drama starring role on NTV and it’s going to be a funny one according to the producers. We are up for many verbal quarrels between the protagonist and the cat, and judging by his character, the protagonist is most probably going to come out as the loser more than just a few times.

Akagawa commented, “I’m looking forward to see how the chemistry is going to be between Aiba, from this generation’s leading group Arashi, and Mikeneko Holmes.”

Aiba himself said, “I’m very nervous, since the original is loved by so many people, but I’m also looking forward to the drama a lot. I hope I can find the best balance between the comical parts and the serious parts.”

NTV is going to air ‘Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri’ every Saturday at 9:00 pm.

Another drama, I’m CHO excited. This role suits our Aiba-chan perfectly; a cat and him as crime-fighting partners, doesn’t this just bring a smile? Good luck to him and Oh-chan!!
