MatsuJun unharmed in minor car accident

Arashi member Jun Matsumoto (26) was involved in a minor car accident on Monday. Fortunately, neither he nor the driver of the other car was hurt.

At about 11:15pm on Monday, Matsumoto was driving in Tokyo’s Meguro ward when he rear-ended the car of a female Tokyo resident. Police say that both drivers were trying to stop at a red light, but the street had a downward slope and the road was slippery due to snow.

Although neither party was injured, the front bumper of Matsumoto’s car and the rear bumper of the woman’s car were damaged.

For those who plan to travel to Tokyo, will need to pay special attention due to the recent weather conditions; this is the first time in two years that it had snowed. Due to the harsh weather, a total of 116 people nationwide had been admitted to the hospital. Matsumoto Jun from the popular teen-idol group (Arashi) was also involved in an accident caused by these slippery conditions.

Since this is the first time in two years that Tokyo has experienced a snowfall, everyone is excited even journalists are eager to provide real-time reports. Due to the lack of snow, most have yet to install snow chains onto their tires yet. Within a day, more than 1000 car accidents had been reported.

Even on the first night of the snowfall, Matsumoto Jun had slid on the ice and rear-ended a car waiting at the traffic light; fortunately there were no injuries.

I was extremely worried when I read the news on NOWNews, thank goodness that no one was injured. Yokatta ne! Poor guy, I’m glad that he is safe now.

I’ve being living in Pennsylvania for 20+ years now and driving in the slippery conditions is not something you want to experience. The worst I had experienced was commuting from work to home after six inches of snow/ice had fallen. Never again!! I would rather take the day off and make it up during the weekend.

A glance at Sakurai Sho’s future plans

I had found a nice little write-up about Sho-kun’s upcoming goals and wanted to share it with you.

Arashi member Sakurai Sho is playing the main character who is a hot-blooded and kind young administrative scrivener in the drama “Tokujo Kabachi/特上カバチ!!”. “The guy (I played) is a fresh greenhorn. It reminds me of struggling recklessly.” commented Sakurai.

Even last year was Arashi 10th anniversary, the character named “Tamura Kazuhiro” made him get back to basics.
The drama is based on a popular manga, comically depicting the growth of Tamura who is full of sense of justice. And Sakurai aims to perform “a town lawyer who you want to be around.” Dramas, songs, TV programs…we probably can see more progress on Arashi members this year.

However, what is “特上(lit. premium)” to Sakurai in his life? “I think it is being a member of Arashi and having fun with my work. Other four members are very cool guys as well.” answered Sakurai. He was also asked what he would do if he were not an artist, he replied: “I want to work overseas, and, maybe as a journalist.” He revealed he wanted to play as “a detective” in the future. And who he wanted to meet with? “The speech writer of Obama. I want to meet him. I heard that he is the same age with me.” as a famous newscaster, he really has a wide field of vision.

Sakurai also said if he could have one month vacation, he would like to go abroad because he likes traveling: “I’d like to travel around the Europe by train.” By the way, having dinner at night is the time with most spirit for him!

And as to his favorite object used with longest time is “a pen box bought at the second grade of middle school and I had been using it until two years ago.” That is quite amazing! Finally he had to buy a new one to replace, but “Currently maybe it’s the clock I bought when I graduated from the university.” said Sakurai.
