Arashi appears on year-end Global album chart for 2010

2010 has been another extraordinary year for wildly popular group Arashi. Despite their dominance in all areas of the entertainment world – from music to acting – the group has never lost their focus and passion for music. Their reign over the year-end Oricon charts is apparent in the top 10 singles ranking where all of their singles managed to make an appearance.

That’s not all though, the group has been ranked #36 on the year-end charts for Global albums, being the only Asian act to appear on the list for 2010. “Boku no Miteiru Fukei” managed to sell 1.1 million copies according to the charts, just behind the posthumous release of “Michael” by Michael Jackson and various Glee cast albums at #33 and #34.

Arashi have no signs of slowing down either, continuing the pace they’ve set for themselves over the years. Look out for their appearance on Kouhaku Utagassen on the 31st!

Arashi makes Ashida Mana’s dreams come true

Arashi’s popular variety show, “Himitsu no Arashi-chan“, welcomed child actress Ashida Mana to one of the corners. Ashida was featured in the “VIP ROOM” segment, and consequently, this week’s episode was titled, ” Arashi makes Mana-chan’s dreams come true special”!

When questioned about what her dreams were, Mana cutely responded:

– “I wanna eat delicious pickled cucumber!”
– “I wanna sing ‘Lilupuri’ song!!” (“Lilupuri” is a popular anime amongst little girls)
– “I wanna be good at riding a unicycle!”

Mana-chan is certainly kawaii, I had seen her once on SMAPxSMAP Bistro. She was playing “hide & seek” with Kimura-kun and the rest of his band members! I had watched it twice as it was one of the most adorable things alive. I’ll wait for the subbed version of the HnA episode, looking forward to the interaction between the Arashi nichans and her.

Song selection for 61st NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen announced

On December 21st, NHK announced the song selection for the 44 artists/groups appearing at the Kohaku Uta Gassen, which will be broadcast live on December 31st.

This announcement is usually made through their website and in the other usual ways, but this year they aired a special program called “Mou sugu Kohaku! Yoshu SP” (“Kohaku will be soon! Preparation Special”).

AKB48, Koda Kumi, and Wada Akiko (Red Team), as well as ARASHI, NYC, Kayama Yuzo, Go Hiromi, and SMAP (White Team), will be presenting special medleys instead of just one song. Singer Nakamura Mitsuko will also set a new record by presenting her song “Kawachi otokobushi” for the 8th time at “Kohaku Uta Gassen”.

“Kohaku Uta Gassen” is one of the longest running programs on Japanese TV, and it stars the biggest J-pop and Enka-artists of the year on December 31st. This year’s hosts will be ARASHI for the white team and actress Matsushita Nao for the red team.
