I came across Phil Chang Yu (張宇) a few days ago while watching an episode of 《谁是大歌神 – The Hidden Singer》 who is a famous Taiwanese singer and composer. Many oldies like me are quite familiar with his songs that were used numerous of Taiwanese TV series and movies. It was a great trip down memory lane and he is still amazing and talented as always. It has been ages since I heard any music produced from the island and quite happy to dig through my CD collection or rather do a search on Youtube. I adore the majority from his discography, but will share one of my favorites today, 一個人的天荒地老. A soulful ballad with a beautiful melody, the desiring and yearning emotions are skillfully expressed through Chang Yu’s lovely and soothing vocals. The passion, the anguish and the sadness-ness are convened elegantly through its lyrics, which are written by his wife that uses pen name, Xiao Huiwen (十一郎). They are certainly an invincible pair with over 100+ songs under their belt. Also if you’re interested in watching any of the episodes, they are available on China Zhejiang Youtube Channel.

Dream of Life had captured my heart from watching the opening of the 2nd season of the Bakuman anime. If you have not seen it, I highly encourage it since the series itself is wonderful and charming. It’s also by the same mangaka team as infamous Death Note. Anyway, Dream of Life is a wonderful upbeat and catchy song which you would enjoy listening when getting up in the morning or anytime you feel you need a boast.

I am oh-so tempted to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.7 since the non-replacement battery on my E-Reader is running low and soon to be dead, only 45 minutes on full charge. Definitely not good and it’s time to say goodbye, we had some wonderful time, ne?! I’ve been hesitant since Black Friday sales will be approaching within a month, maybe there will be an extravagant deal? The Galaxy Tab 2 is not the most fastest tablet in the world, but offers much more than Kindle Fire or Nook. It’s quite sufficient for my manga and novel readings along with some web browsing.
