Arashi – Album news in Philly Examiner

Kyaaa~~ Though, the Examiner is not a local newspaper, but it is close enough (I live about an hour drive from the City of Brotherly Love). Arashi saikou!! Congrats on the wonderful sales, so happy and proud of them. They certainly are becoming more and more international. We are definitely in Arashi jidai/era, it would be even more interesting if they hit the million mark. Let’s keep our fingers keep that this will come true!.

All the Best! 1999-2009 overtakes Supermarket Fantasy’s first week sales

5x10

With their singles Ashita no Kioku/Crazy Moon~ Kimi wa Muteki and Believe/ Kumorinochi, Kaisei already placed at the top of the Oricon Yearly Singles ranking so far, Japanese boyband, Arashi is stirring up a storm that could bring them to the top of the album charts. In a recent report in Oricon Style, the quintet, who just released All the Best! 1999-2009, just overtook Mr. Children’s first week album sales of Supermarket Fantasy. Mr. Children’s album, which was released on December 2008, sold 708,000 on its first week garnering it the top spot for the year 2009*. Arashi’s new album, just released last week, has now sold 753,000 copies already.

It is no doubt that the group will rank #1 for this week’s album charts. The question remains, would the group have enough momentum to overtake Mr. Children’s total sales for the year? With the #1 single so far, and the #1 Music DVD release of their Asia Tour, it appears that Mr. Children’s excellent Supermarket Fantasy with total sales of over 1.2 Million copies is the only obstacle to Arashi’s complete domination of the Oricon charts.

All the Best! 1999-2009, to date, is the group’s best-selling album.

Note: *December 2008 sales count toward the 2009 Oricon year.

Persona 3 PSP to be released

This is quite exciting, Persona 3 will be going to PSP! This is release, it will have a new heroine along with a female version of Orpheus and male one of Elizabeth. I’m guessing you have a choice between the gender of your protagonist, which is awesome. I wonder if there will be male version of Takeba Yukari, Kirijo Mitsuru, and Yamagishi Fuuka. Guess it’s no biggie since you have the choice of Iori Junpei, Sanada Akihiko and a few others for boyfriends if you choose the female protagonist. We’ll just have to wait and see.

The game will be released in Japan on 11/01/2009, nothing announced for North America yet. For more details visit Famitsu.

Aiba Masaki – More news on drama

Talento Yuka (29) has been cast in next season’s TV Asahi drama series “My Girl.” She will play the girlfriend of Arashi member Masaki Aiba (26).

Unveiled earlier this month, “My Girl” is Aiba’s first starring drama role. The show is based on Mizu Sahara’s manga of the same name, which tells the story of a young man (Aiba) who learns about the death of his former girlfriend (Yuka) who left him six years earlier. He also finds out that she secretly gave birth to his daughter (Momoka Ishii, 6), whom he takes in and starts to raise.

Although the main story takes place after the girlfriend’s death, the character will still appear in every episode during flashback scenes. Yuka’s last regular role in a full drama series on a commercial network was in 2002’s “Zoku Heisei Meoto Jawan.” However, she did appear in several episodes of last year’s hit drama “Maou.”

“My Girl” starts in October, airing Friday nights at 11:15pm. ~ From Tokyograph and Sponichi Annex
