The RPGs world

After completing Final Fantasy X, I have indulged myself into the brilliant world of RPGs. While browsing through my younger brother’s game collection, I felt like a little kid in a candy store. Okay, more like in a bookstore filled with mystery and suspense novels…. Hey, don’t glare at me like that..lol. I am a bookworm and proud of it too! You have to admit that literature is certainly another enchanting world!

Anyway, I was quite fascinated by the stories of each of the games and have even compiled a list of games-to-play. The list is lengthy, I say that there are about 20+ games and there is absoluately no way they will be all touched this year. Maybe sometime next year, the completion date can be set, if I am luck.

A RPG is more or less an interactive novel where the player can portray roles of the characters and determine their action/outcome based on the set guidelines of the game. It becomes more interesting, as well as, suspenseful since the player does not know what the journey holds. From my brief experience, there are more surprise, twists and turns to the story than expected. I also appreciate the unique characteristics of the heros/heroines and sharing their emotions – happiness, frustrations, and sorrows. Certainly happy that these elements are integrated to provide an ultimate experience.

The following are the ones which I am currently playing:

Tales of the Abyss – Hehe…this was so much fun and still is. Absolutely, love the expressions on each of the interesting characters, especially Luke’s. The dialogue is very well-written and witty. The fast-paced battles are also a plus. Almost finished with this one, have a few more locations to go to before the final boss. Played about 50+ hours so far.

Suikoden V – Love the artwork and an very intriguing plot; believe some of the characters are based on the Chinese novel, Water Margin (水滸傳). I am only 5 hours into the game though.
