30 Day Anime Challenge – Day 4

Day Four – Your guilt pleasure anime

A good yaoi series like Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and Fuyu no Semi with an intriguing story, strong characters and development relationships. Also, a tad of tasteful smut makes the entire courtship between the two main characters even more enjoyable to watch. Everyone needs their excitement and cure to their addiction, ne?!

  1. Hi, I’ve watched these two. More accurately I watched Haru wa deitata and not Fuyu no semi. I’ve liked very much SeikaiHichi Hatsukoi even if I slightly prefer Junjou Romantica. About The other anime you mentioned, I watched Pokemon a very very long ago and some episodes of Hakuoki but not the whole (two) series. Surely Shinsengumi are stunningly beautifull and charismatic but I’had some problems with the female protagonist and the whole plot. Maybe because this anime come from an Otome game that has, by definition, no/multiple ending? Anyway i think I have to re-watch it….

    1. Hey Shizuka!

If you haven’t seen Fuyu no Semi, it is a must! The animation was beautifully composed and story was nicely paced, definitely much better than Haru wa Deitata. I love the manga series to bits and have read it multiple times, but its anime counterpart was not on par. The saving grace for me was Miki-sama and MoriMori’s voice performances which is always as top notch. I feel the same way about Chizuru in the Hakuouki anime series, typical damsel in distress for an Otome game, kind of worthless and always crying (literally) for help. But her perception in the the recent movie (Hakuouki: Kyoto Ranbu) is portray with more impact, at least she can defend herself and not relying on everyone else. It also is a tribute to Hijikata so it focuses on his route only without any filters.

Also, thank you so much for reading and commenting, it really made my day and motivates me to continues with this month’s meme!
