One Piece – Luffy featured on the cover of men’s fashion magazine

No, I’m not joking! Luffy is the first-ever manga character to be featured in a men’s fashion magazine. As a manga and anime fan, I found this truly awesome! He is going to the ambassador to the fashion world — Eat that Naruto LOL.

Monkey D. Luffy, the hero of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece pirate manga and anime franchise. will adorn the cover of the January issue of Shueisha’s Men’s Non-No fashion magazine when it ships on Thursday. This is the first time that a manga character has been on the cover in the magazine’s 24-year history. It is also the first time that Oda has drawn a cover image for a magazine that is not a manga magazine. Not coincidentally, Shueisha also publishes Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, the home of the One Piece manga.

Shinichi “Miter” Mita was the stylist responsible for Luffy’s look on Men’s Non-No’s cover, although Luffy did retain his trademark straw hat. The first eight pages of the magazine will be devoted to photographs of five models who resemble the characters Luffy, Nami, Robin, Zoro, and Sanji. The models donned clothes with the motifs of the sea and pirates for the magazine.

Two days after the Men’s Non-No magazine issue with the Luffy cover hits newsstands, One Piece Film Strong World will open in Japanese theaters. Besides the cover and the model photoshoot, the issue will carry interviews with Oda and Olympic gold-medal-winning swimmer (and One Piece Film Strong World guest voice actor) Kōsuke Kitajima. Unlike previous One Piece films, Oda has been personally overseeing the new film’s production.

Ikuta Toma Talks about Matsumoto Jun: Past and Present

I’ve always it interesting whenever a senpai or kohai talks about our beloved Arashi.. This one illustrates Ikuta Toma’s recent encounter with Jun-kun.

Ikuta Toma “For the first time in ages I went out to eat dinner with Matsumoto Jun. Afterwards we ended up going to Matsumoto’s house…I had a great time talking about lots of different things. Matsu-Jun [Matsumoto] is a very earnest person. He’s a great source of motivation. While we were talking we discovered that we were using the same perfume. We ‘argued’ who should switch to a different one! ‘I’ll change first!’ ‘No, I will!’
That reminded me of when we had costarred in the theater production ‘Stand by Me’. We quarreled practically everyday (laugh). We fought over the most insignificant things. But hey, we were just middle school students back then.
Now those ‘brats’ have grownup, and there we were talking while having a drink…gee, we’ve matured a lot (laugh).”

Fans would definitely have wanted to be there between them! The two longtime friends must have been surprised to find that have unwittingly been using the same perfume. Does anyone know exactly what brand they’re using? As they grow older they are bound to continue being good friends and also be good influence for each other!

From Music Japan

I found it rather cute that Toma-kun and Jun-kun have the same taste in perfume and argued who would change first. Also, I’m happy to know that their relationship has remain unchanged, still much like their junior days.

I’ve seen a few of Toma-kun’s dramas, his acting is quite good and certainly one to watch for. Looking forward to his new move with Gakki!

Arashi – 2009 FNS Performances

Just finished watching this year’s FNS and wanted to share the Arashi parts:

冬がはじまるよ/Fuyu ga Hajimaru yo – Collaboration with Noriyuki Makihara
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR0HKeLtWog
Absolutely love this version, I am extremely happy that the boys was able to perform with Noriyuki-san. Definitely an amazing performance, they were in such harmony along with brilliant vocals. It does have a Christmas feel to it, ne? I can picture looking out the window as snow slowly trickle down.

明日の記憶/Ashita no Kioku

Another one of my favorites, the live band adds a special touch to this beautiful song. The boys look quite handsome in their tuxs!

On a side note, there is a few notes on the LJ indicating that Nino recently is experiencing some back pain. I know how busy he is now with filming the drama special and Gantz movie, really hope that he is not exceeding his limit.

Please take some time to rest, we don’t mind if your projects are delayed, your health is more important. Our prays are with you on a speedy recovery!
